Kira and Fizzgig
Like Jen, Kira survived the slaughter of the Gelflings. Rescued by the Pod People, she learned to live in harmony with the woodland creatures who inhabited the swamps and forests surrounding the Pod Village. When fate brought Kira and Jen together, she joined him on his quest. They gave each other strength, encouragement, and the will to succeed.
While Jen was raised in the safety of the Valley of the Mystics, Kira's life in the forest was threatened by continuous raids by the deadly Garthim, the unfeeling servants of the Skeksis. Many of her adopted family were turned into ghost-like slaves by skekTek the Scientist who used the power of the Dark Crystal to rob them of their vital essence. After their transformation they would be turned over to skekNa the Slave-Master, who would put them to never-ending labours in the Castle. When Kira approached the castle for the first time, she fought the Garthim with the help of Landstriders and successfully freed some of her Pod family who had been recently captured.
Fizzgig
Faithfully always at her side is her companion, Fizzgig. This furry fuzz-ball stays at her side, rolling along at a furious pace, and is never afraid to let out a protective yap whenever his master is threatened.
